Cahir GAA Notes

Our club would like to offer our condolences to the family and extended family of Ann Marie O'Connell RIP who passed away recently; our thoughts are with all of her family at this sad time, may she rest in peace.

Also this week, again we want to extend our condolences to the O'Brien and Regan families of the recent death (28th of October) of Mary Regan (née O' Brien, Keylong Cahir), RIP, as always our thoughts are with both families and extended families at this sad time, may she rest in peace.

Junior B Hurling semi-final

Saturday last we played a fancied St. Marys in the Junior B semi-final in Ned Hall Park, our men started well and within four minutes Tom O Gorman raised the green flag to get the perfect start, our opponents hit back with a few points and on fifteen minutes the sides were level, Marys took the lead with three unanswered points, but a late surge for Cahir saw them go to the break just one behind 1-04 to 0-08, (pictured above the team getting half time instructions).

The second half was just under way when Cahir levelled through Brian Enright, but on thirteen Marys got a goal to put a bit of daylight between the sides in a well contested game, both teams were not going to lie down for this one with both teams exchanging points going into the dying minutes, (pictured in the yellow helmet is James Walsh who had a great game in the backs), Cahir were down a player with two minutes to go (two yellows) and could not find any more in the tank to turn the game around, final score Cahir1-11 St. Marys 1-15, over all a good game with great scores taken, maybe on another day we could have taken this one, well done to all the panel of players and the management team for their hard work and effort over the last few months, thanks to you all for giving us enjoyment over the course of the championship, and let's hope we can do it all again next year, especially the three guys pictured, Robbie Costigan , Brian Enright and Gavin Berry, hope ye still have the legs lads!
