Cahir Park AFC Notes

Tsdl League Division 1

Cahir Park 0-0 Cashel Town

On Sunday afternoon in front of a large crowd Cahir Park kicked off the new season at home to Cashel Town who came down from the premier league last season. It was Cashel who started on the front foot with the returning Aaron Wall pulling off a couple of great saves early on but as the game settled down the Park grew into it with Bunty Flannery and Benny Ryan taking control in midfield. Also causing trouble for a strong and well organised Cashel defence was Keith McGuire and Darren Sweeney. The Park lost Keith McGuire at half time through injury and on to make his competitive first team debut came Sean Murphy who settled into the game straight away and caused Cashel a lot of trouble down the right hand side. Also making his first team debut was another youth Rhys O Regan on the wing who had a great game taking on the cashel full back at every opportunity. With a solid back four of Pimmy , Kevin Dempsey, Kevin Murray and Keelin Hickey Cashels chances were limited. At the other end Cahir pushed hard for the elusive goal with Tom Keating, Kevin Dempsey and Darren Sweeney all going close but try as we did we just couldn't find our way past the Cashel goalkeeper. So it finished scoreless but we can take a lot from this game and great credit to Sean Murphy and Rhys O Regan who were fantastic on there debut for the junior team. Everyone gave it there all today and we look forward to an away game on Sunday 27th to Rosegreen.

The Junior B Team kick off there season next Sunday away to kilmanahan at 12pm.

Our Youths A and B Teams also kick off this Saturday, keep an eye on Cahir Park AFC Facebook page. Best of luck to all teams for the coming season.

Also our underage boys and girls teams will be starting back training shortly. New members always welcome in all teams.

Official Opening Of All Weather Pitch

This Sunday sees us officially open our ABP All Weather Pitch. Proceedings kick off at 10.30am with The Gregg Cup being played for our underage boys and girls. The official opening by FAI CEO John Delaney will take place at 12.30pm. There will be refreshments and entertainment on the day. This is truly a milestone in the history of this great club and the biggest single project taken on by any club near or far. This would not have been possible but for the support of the people of Cahir and we would like to invite everyone to Cahir Park to be part of the day. Numbers in the club are continuously ruining at all ages and it's fantastic to have such a facility to offer the members new and old.
