Tourist Office To Open After Battle - Moloney

Following some weeks of battling with Failte Ireland and the office of Minister Ross, cllr Moloney has received confirmation this morning that the Tourist Office in Cahir will open next Tuesday 30th May.

Moloney put the OPW figures of an increase of 35% in visitors to Cahir Castle and 29% increase in Swiss Cottage upto April 17 when a national average was expected of 7% to the Minister and this was supported by Failte Ireland.

There is no point in crowing on about Irelands Ancient East and Butler Trails if our services are not open.

Moloney is quiet satisfied that the minister did not release the staffing grant and has called already for 2018 to be sorted now.

The local Councillor and Mayor of Clonmel Borough District said it's a joke to have people working on the promotion of the area while Minister Ross can hold a tourist office to ransom. Failte Ireland have a new 3 year deal to lease the premises and its future in Cahir needs to be guaranteed.
