Cahir Tidy Towns Notes

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group have been active recently with spraying and sowing of wildflower seeds. Thanks to Gerry for the additions to the Fairy Trail and this is proving to a great asset to the town.

Beds in the centre of the town have been planted and this coming week we hope to see the baskets on the poles. We are presently painting up the planters for the street and we will double our numbers this year thanks to the recent raffle in Super Valu.

The recent rain is welcome to freshen up the place and we are slightly ahead on last year for judging. The entry closes on 25th May so we can expect judges anytime from early June onwards. We were judged on a Thursday last year so we need to be vigilant regarding litter and tidiness. We are standing at 304 points at the moment so it's harder to climb the ladder.

We are asking everyone to keep an eye outside their own area and hopefully we can gain an extra few marks. It is very unusual to be sitting at such a high result and not have as much as a cert to show for it but years of hard work since the 60s by many people will pay off someday so meet as normal on Wednesday at 7pm. We need to be litter conscious. On a different note, the tenders closed for the new toilets on Friday but toilets will open at weekends until they start the new building due to the crowds in town at weekends recently. We have also been informed that interviews took place this week for positions in the Tourist Office and it has been stocked and will be staffed shortly.
