Paddy Purtill Cup Semi Final Result

Cahir Park 4 Vee Rovers 2

We welcomed our near neighbours Vee Rovers for the Paddy Purtill Cup semi Final.

We started the better and took the lead on 5 minutes when a Stephen Burke cross found it's way to the net.

The visitors had a good spell for the next ten minutes without really creating anything. We took control again and had a number of half chance without converting them. Vee Rovers got the equaliser on 41 mins when Conor Lonergan headed home from close range.

The second half started with us on top and regained the lead on 47 minutes when Shane Murphy finished a good move.

We continued to dominate without adding to the scoreline until the 82nd minute when Stephen Burke finished from close range.

Vee Rovers set up a nevry finish when Ronan O Dwyer finished off a corner from close range on 90 mins, However Stephen Burke made the game safe when he completed his hat trick in injury time.

Congratulations to the Vee on a good season back in the first Division and a Tipperary Cup Semi Final appearance also. We look forward to more battles ahead next season.

Well done to Johnny , Jim , Fish and all the lads involved today. We look forward to another Cup Final in the coming weeks.

Colin Flynn Perpetual U16 Tipperary Cup Final

Cahir Park AFC 3

Peake Villa FC 1

Having recently won the U16 Premier League, Cahir Park travelled to Cooke Park, Tipperary Town trying to complete the Double.

On a perfect pitch and with a strong breeze in their favour Cahir Park started particularly quickly getting in behind the Villa defence on two separate occasions inside the first couple of minutes and only last gasp defending preventing the opening goal. Then with only 4 minutes on the clock, The Park got the perfect start.

Rhys Byron made a diagonal run and picked up a great pass, outsprinting two Peake defenders and with precision shot across the keeper into the bottom corner of the net.

This sparked the Thurles outfit into action and to their credit enjoyed a 10 minute spell of good possession which the Park defence of Thomas Burke, man of the match Jake Kiely, Oisin Brennan and Jake Fitzgerald calmly dealt with the best Villa had to offer. Awarded a free kick on the right edge of the penalty area some quick thinking saw a clever ball placed around the Cahir Park wall for Kevin Patan to run onto and despite great effort to block the shot by the Cahir keeper Bartek Czyzewski, the ball eventually crossed the line to leave the sides tied up after only 15 minutes.

Immediately Cahir Park responded and David Murphy impressive all day along with Tommy McDonagh started to command midfield enabling Rhys O'Regan to spray precision passes to the wide two of Zac Keating and Shane Crosse who continuously trouble the Peake Villa defence. Awarded three corners in a row, the final one saw a ball played deep to the back of the penalty area where Crosse emphatically half volleyed the ball to the back of the net after 28 minutes. Cahir kept up the pressure and Rhys Byron causing all sorts of problems for Villa once again beat 3 players in a very tight space to find the net 3 minutes before the break to give Cahir Park a very much deserved two goal cushion.

With the strong breeze at their backs Villa started the second half with great impetus and after 4 minutes Gonzalo De Esteban played Patan in and when it seemed easier to score than miss his shot - agonisingly slipped wide of the post. This seemed to be the pivotal moment of the game and the Cahir midfield, now bolstered by a very tough tackling Billy Coffey, comfortably dealt with everything Peake Villa threw at them, ensuring thereafter Villa never got a clear sight of the Park goal for the remainder of the game. With 20 minutes remaining and Villa chasing the game, space started to open up. Cahir Park started to turn on the style and with some brilliant football struck the woodwork on two separate occasions and somehow after opening up the Villa defence on a further four separate occasions, failing to beat an inspired keeper Eoghan Tinkler and add to the score line. Adam Coffey was introduced to the game getting in some timely tackles and Darragh Brennan offered a good option cleverly running into space. The clock ticked down and a very large crowd of Cahir Park supporters loudly greeted the final whistle seeing their charges complete an Under 16 League and Cup Double. Great credit to the management team of Sean and Leo Coffey and Caolan O Gorman.

Ladies Result Division 2 shield

Tipperary Town 5 Cahir Park 2

Scores for Cahir Park Clara Doheny and Annmarie Ryan . This was the first outing for the Cahir Park Senior lady's team. Nerves got to both teams with the first 20 mins a bit scrappy . Both teams came to life after that and great football was played with chances at either end. Half time score 0-0 . With the 2nd half starting of with a quicker pace and Tipperary pushing for a goal the opening goal came in the 55 min for Tipp. Tipperary then took charge of the game and put another on the scoresheet . With Cahir Park pushing to get on the score sheet Tipp caught us on the break for the 3rd. The score going against us the formation was changed and cahir won a spot kick where Clara converted top corner. But from the spot kick tipp broke to add to their score line and soon added the 5th but the girls dug deep to grab another through a volly out side the box from annmaire Ryan. Best of luck to Tipperary Town ladies in the shield. Our girls will now look to the league and first game on 10th of May . Training continues Monday nights at 7pm in Cahir Park Astro pitch new players always welcome .
