Cahir GAA Notes

Speedy recovery

The club would like to wish Michael Tarrant, a fast recovery and we hope to see Michael back in the Park sooner rather than later.

Senior football

On Sunday last Cahir played kilsheelan/Kilcash in the south championship semi-final in Monroe. Our lads did not start well and on the tenth minute a goal chance for Kiilsheelan/Kilcash was saved by Brian Enright, in fact one of three fine saves by the keeper (one a penalty which he tipped over for a point). Cahir could have been out of sight by the break, half time score, Cahir 0-05 Kilsheelan/Kilcash 0-10. The second half did not improve for Cahir and they went on to loose 0-10 to 2-15. The team and scorers were as follows: Brian Enright, Ryan Murphy, Eoin Donaghy, Mikey O?Connor, Sean O?Connor, Brendan Donaghy, Brian McKenna (0-1), Robbie Costigan, Conor Casey, Benny Hickey (0-1), Paddy O?Flaherty, Shane Murphy, James McGrath, Dean Lonergan (0-2), Liam Casey (0-5). Subs Used: Conor Cashman, Padraig Whelan (0-1), Aaron Murphy

Hurlers fight back to earn draw

Our minor (Cahir/Fr. Sheehy?s) hurlers went to Newcastle last Wednesday evening to play Grangemockler/Ballyneale in the first game of the minor championship, the combo team (wearing Fr. Sheehy?s colours) had a slow start but to their credit took some fine scores and went to half time down five points 0-09 to 0-14. At the restart after a couple of positional changes on our side, the game came to life, and with both teams hitting the back of the net Cahir/Sheehy?s doing it twice. At one stage the combination team were down eight points, but kept their heads and came away with the draw, well done lads and management. The team and scorers were as follows: Eric Coleman, Keelan Looby, James Conway, Stephen Grogan, Dylan Walsh, Ben Hyland (0-10), Brian McKenna, Conor Cashman (1-0), Darragh Howard, Alan O?Connor, Patrick Meehan (0-2), Paulie Barrett, Aaron Condon, Colin English (1-4), Jack Murphy. Subs Used: Eanna Heffernan, John Hickey (0-1), Conor O?Brien.

Draw the joker

On Sunday the 12th we held a benefit night for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, with draw the joker, on behalf of the Swords family. The night was a great success. A big thank you to everyone who bought a ticket on that night and last Sunday(26th) we presented the Swords family with a cheque for the I.M.N.D.A. to the value of ?1,500 which is a fantastic amount of money. We would like to wish Jim and the Swords family the very best for the future. This week's results are as follows: John Kendrick won ?100.00 and the other prize winners were Niamh & Emma Walsh, Sean O?Regan and Pat Joe O?Halloran.
