Cahir Tidy Towns plan COVID Comeback

The National Tidy Towns Competition might be cancelled but The Cahir Group vow to fight on.
While activities have been suspended locally, The Cahir Tidy Towns Group will draw up a programme for summer planting and will have things in place for a COVID Recovery.
Cllr Andy Moloney said that a lot of the members are cocooning at the moment and others are sidelined due to the 2km rules but plans are been made to have some colour in the town for summer when hopefully restrictions can be lifted in some form.
He accepts that the international tourist trade is gone for most of 2020 but the Home Market could be bigger this year if we can get on top of the virus.]
Many people are suffering from cabin fever at the moment and will be looking towards Ireland for day trips and weekends away and most definitely seeking budget breaks. As a Tidy Towns Group, we need to have the town looking as well as we can to contribute towards this. The local councillor was in touch with his Chairperson and while we will scale back on planting we will be most definitely doing our bit for a COVID recovery.
The works completed over the years have been maturing and have been a godsend to locals walking but we will be back bigger and better once we get the nod and plan for TT 2021. Stay safe everyone and once HSE guidelines allow us we will be out and about but social distancing for a while.
