Cahir soprano Jennifer Davis Stars In The Magic Flute

Cahir soprano Jennifer Davis made one of the sensational role debuts of 2018 as Elsa in a new production of Wagner's Lohengrin conducted by Andris Nelsons at London's Royal Opera House. She has won praise for her gleaming, silvery tone, and dramatic characterisation of remarkable immediacy. Her future engagements include house and role debuts across Europe and America, including at the Vienna State Opea and San Francisco Opera.

She was an Opera Theatre Company Young Artist from 2012-13, and from 2015 to 2017 was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at Covent Garden, where she has appeared as Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore; Erste Dame in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte; Ifigenia in the Handel pasticcio Oreste; Arbate in Mozart's Mitridate, re di Ponto; and Ines in Verdi's Il trovatore, as well as making appearances with the Royal Ballet as Elisabeth in Philip Glass's Les enfants terribles and in a double bill including Górecki's Third Symphony and Max Richter's Woolf Works.

Other engagements have included Agata in Cagnoni's Don Bucefalo at Wexford Festival Opera, Lena in Ana Sokolović's Svadba for Festival International d'Art Lyrique d'Aix en Provence, Female Chorus in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia for Irish Youth Opera, Eurydice in Gluck's Orfeo & Eurydice for the Clonmel Junction Festival, the Countess in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and High Priestess in Verdi's Aida for Lyric Opera Productions. She sang in Irish National Opera's Big Bang launch concert in January 2018 and mad her INO stage debut in The Magic Flute the week before last.
