A new year and once again it's a new challenge to get fit. Cahir Meet and Train can help you achieve that at no cost. For the 5th year the social group will run a Couch to 5km to coincide with the popular TV programme. While they stress that this is a Couch to 5km there will be some choice words, lots of sweating, dieting and commitment needed for 7 weeks.

Registration and demonstration night starts this coming Thursday 3rd at 7.30pm sharp from Duneske car park. Night one starts off with 5 minutes walking then 90seconds slow jog,90seconds Walk 3 times then 3 minutes walking and repeat a second time. It's a total of 25minutes on night 1 and if you can hack it you will be running 5km by the end of February for the official Operation Transformation Run.

The group advise that those wanting to achieve their goals should follow a participant on the TV and maybe do a “weigh in” with some of the many fitness instructors in the area.

There is no charge with the Cahir Meet and Train group who just meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7.30pm sharp and again on Saturday mornings at 9.30am. There is also a walking group so you can just meet and walk also as there are 5 levels to suit everyone.

There are many success stories over the years with many achieving their goals and you could be next.

Anyone interested should contact Andy, Elaine or Deborah on Thursday evening at 7.20pm and high Vis best will be supplied if anyone is in need of one.

The official walk is Saturday 12th January at 11am so we can have a week of a head start. All you need is a pair of runners and high vis. It's as simple as that.
