Cllr Andy Moloney Welcomes €3 Million Upgrade to Cahir Wastewater Treatment Plant

Local Councillor Andy Moloney has welcomed the completion of a €3 million upgrade to Cahir's wastewater treatment plant, a project that promises to improve water quality in the River Suir and support the town's future development.

“It's great to see investment going into our town. This will make a real difference for the environment and the community, and it sets us up well for the future.” said Cllr. Moloney.

Speaking about the upgrade, Portfolio Manager at Uisce Éireann Paul Fallon said:

“Cahir is a bustling town with a vibrant community and its many scenic attractions add to the town's significance as a tourist destination. This investment by Uisce Éireann in the wastewater treatment plant will bring a host of benefits to the area including significantly improving water quality in the River Suir, as well as supporting better health and integrity of the environment. The upgrade will also ensure there is capacity available for future social and economic growth in the area.”

Paul continued: ‘I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the community for their ongoing support and patience throughout the delivery of this vital wastewater project.”

The project, carried out by Murphy Process Engineering on behalf of Uisce Éireann, includes expanded capacity for wastewater treatment, additional stormwater storage, and a new settling tank. These enhancements will help ensure that Cahir meets current wastewater regulations and is prepared for future growth.

Uisce Éireann has invested over €134 million in County Tipperary over the past decade, and this project is part of their ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure across the county.
