Cahir Park Come Out On Top In Local Derby

Munster Junior Cup

Cahir Park 2 Vee Rovers 0

We welcomed our neighbours Vee Rovers for the first round of the Munster Junior cup

We had the better of the opening exchanges without putting the Vee keeper and defence under any real pressure.

We were unlucky not to take the lead on the half hr mark when Darren Murphy hit the inside of the post and the ball rebounded into the keepers hands.

The visitors had a great chance from a corner on 55 mins but found one effort blocked and the follow up cleared off the line.

We regained control after that and got our reward when Alan O Donnell converted from the pen spot on 62 mins.

Two minutes later Elliott Thompson made it two with a close range header following a good cross from Ros Condon.

Vee Rovers tried gamely to find a way back into to the game and can count themsleves unlucky not to have pulled at least one back.

Tsdl division 3

Tipp Town 1 Cahir Park 3

Today we travelled to tipp town for our latest leauge game ..

It was the home team who started the brighter but they failed to finish two early opportunities. Cahir came into the game and played some good football at times but it was the home side who took the lead on 12 mins when the tipp town striker knocked the ball over the on coming keeper ..

Cahir responded well to going behind and 8 mins later a good run by tom keating seen him brought down in the box. The penalty was calmly put away by kevin murray. Cahir scored there 2nd goal on 31 mins a towering header by dylan nugent from a corner

Half time 1-2

Tipp town started the second half the better having alot of posession but never troubled the park defence .

After soaking up alot of pressure the park came bk into the game and had a great chance on 70 mins to extend the lead when Paddy o Donnell found himself one on one with the tipp keeper but seen his shot superbly saved. The park had 2 more great chances but failed to hit the target.

Against the run of play tipp town then had a great chance to make it all even when a scramble in the park defence seen the ball fall to the feet of the tipp town striker who seen his strike brilliantly save by James Coughlin from 8 yards.

Park finally scored there 3rd goal when tipp town thru everything at the park defence but a great clearance seen the ball fall to the feet of tom keating who found himself one on one with the keeper to finish and earn the park a big 3 points against a very good tipp town team.

Training continues for all teams and our academy on Sat mornings and Monday evenings are extremely busy. We are always looking for extra coaches so if you are interested in getting involved Cahir Park will put you through the necessary FAI courses. The Ipswich G10 camp with Will O Donoughue for u12s upwards is proving a great sucess on Wednesday evenings, we would like to thank all coaches , parents and especially the players who seem to be getting a lot out of it.
