Senior Football Championship

Cahir avoid relegation dog fight

Last Sunday we travelled to Holycross to play Kildangan in third round of the championship, Cahir took control of this one early on with a brace of goals from Stephen Grogan and a goal (penalty) and two points from Liam Casey, saw the lads in no danger, it must be said Kildangan might have had one eye on another competition but our young team could only play what was in front of them, the team played some nice football which was easy on the eye and they racked up another six points before the whistle for the break, half time score 3-6 to 0-3, the second thirty saw the team express themselves and the management (led by John O Connor) were able to use all their bench to give as many as possible game time, Cahir would go on and raise the white flag another ten times before proceedings were brought to finish, final score Cahir 3-16 to 0-04, the talk of relegation is put to bed for this year and now we can all look forward to a good South championship, well done to the panel of players and their management team, full team and scorers: Brian Enright, Patrick Meehan (0-1), Kieran O'Dwyer, Ryan O'Donnell, Conor Casey, Ger Hally, Ger Quinn, Liam Casey (1-3), Mikey O'Connor (0-2), Brian McKenna (0-1), Niall McKenna, Alan O'Connor (0-2), Conor O'Brien (0-3), Stephen Grogan (2-1), Darragh Howard (0-1),Subs Used: Colin McEniry, Dylan Fitzgerald (0-1), Dean Lonergan (0-1), Conor Cashman, Liam Howard.

Minor Hurling Championship

It was heart break for our minor hurlers last Sunday when they played the combo team of Skeheen/Clonmel Óg in Ardfinnan, Cahir had a difficult start but fought their way back and even went ahead with a few minutes to go, but sadly they could not hold on and lost by the minimum, final score 1-16 to 2-12, tough on these young men but heads up lads and look forward to the county semi-final in the minor football, we must thank all the players for their time and effort over the last few months, their captain Tommy Magner, the management team lead by Davy McEniry and his mentors Dermot Fitzgerald, Brian Murphy, Donie Casey and Maura Grogan, again thank you all for your efforts during the year, full team and scorers from the match: Conor Kirwan, Darragh Heffernan, Eoin Wyse, Liam Hickey, Francie Delaney (0-3), Eoghan Kelly, Tommy McDonagh, Dylan Fitzgerald, Tommy Magner, Nicholas Reidy, Stephen Grogan (0-2), Christopher McDonagh, Jake Kiely (0-3), Mark Casey (0-1), Kevin Grogan (2-3), Subs Used: David Clifford
