Hurling competitions

This week it was all hurling on the field, we had three matches involving our minors and juniors A and B, first up were our minors who played last Wednesday in Goatenbridge where our opponents were St. Marys, sadly we came out on the wrong side of this game, final score 1-17 to 2-08, full team and scorers: Conor Kirwan, Liam Hickey, Eoin Wyse, Darragh Heffernan, Francie Delaney, Eoghan Kelly, Tommy McDonagh, Mark Casey, Dylan Fitzgerald, Nicholas Reidy (0-1), Stephen Grogan (1-2), Tommy Magner, Jake Kiely (1-0), Kevin Grogan ( 0-5), Sean Murphy. Subs Used: David Clifford, Tiarnan McLoughlin, Killian Halpin

Junior A hurling championship

(Junior A team getting last minute instructions)

Friday evening our hurlers were in Ballylooby to play Skeheenarinky, the game got off to the worst possible start form a Cahir point of view as we conceded three goals in the first five minutes, this would turn out to be our down fall as we could not get back the advantage we gave our opponents even though we gave a good account of ourselves in the latter stages of the game, final score, 3-13/1-10, full team and scorers: Keelan Hickey, James Walsh, Kieran O'Dwyer, Eoin O'Neill, Ryan O'Donnell, Ger Hally, Patrick Meehan, Conor Casey, Darragh Howard, Alan O'Connor (0-2), Daniel Moloney, Liam Howard (0-2) Conor O'Brien (0-5), Stephen Grogan, Johnny McMahon (1-1), Subs Used: Ger Quinn, Nicholas Reidy,

Junior B hurling

Twenty four hours later Saturday evening we were in action again with our B's when we played Moyle Rovers in a changed venue, Ned Hall Park, sadly again Cahir had a poor first half, the number of players we had was the bare minimum which did not help our cause, although being comprehensively beaten in the first half, the lads put up a better show in the last thirty and clawed a good chunk of their deficit back, but unfortunately the gap was too much, final score Cahir 2-11 Rovers 4-10, full team and scorers: Anthony Burke, John Sheehy, Keelan Looby, James Hyland, Tommy Magner, Brian Enright (0-1), Mark Casey, Johnny B. O'Brien, Benny Hickey (0-6), Rhys Chowtie, Eoghan Quinlan (1-2), Eanna Heffernan, Ben Allen, Kieran O'Donnell (1-2), Patrick O'Donovan. Subs Used: Eric Coleman, Tommy Allen, Stephen McGrath

Next fixture for Cahir is Minor A hurling Cahir V Grangemockler/Ballyneale in

Ned Hall Park on Wednesday 26th at 6-30pm

Good luck to all the team.

Draw the joker

This week we were in the The Punters Rest, thank you all for your continued support of our weekly fund raising game, this week's winners: John Michael Cagney, Aisling & Roisin Brophy, Niall Corner, John O'Connor and Emma Crotty.

Preserving the past

Below are county and south football medals won back in 1957 and 1958 by Cahir and belonging to one of the players, Frank Gregg, Frank kindly donated the medals to the club, they are now in safe hands and some day in the future we will have an archive room where we can all look back and enjoy items of the past which are important to our club, this was a very kind gesture by Frank Gregg and it put us thinking, what if there are more people out there willing to do the same for our club and donate whatever is important to the players and members of times gone by, if there is anyone interested in donating please contact the email address below and we can take from there, again a big thank you to Frank for his kindness, a great club man. (Pictured on the left the 1957 medals and on the right the 1958 ones)
