Senior Football Championship
Our senior footballers were in action last Wednesday evening 20th when they took on Commercials in Monroe, after a quick start by Commercials Cahir found themselves trailing by 1-3 to a point, Cahir settled well and went to the break all square on score of 1-06 to 1-06. After the break some great scores were exchanged, and was the trend right to the end whistle, in the last few minutes commercials had a couple of scores to edge past Cahir on a finishing score of Cahir 2-09 Commercials 3-10. Some of our younger players and fringe players done well and played their part in an entertaining game well done to all, team and scorers as follows: Brian Enright, Eoin Donaghy, Ger Hally, Brian McKenna, Sean O’Connor, Aidan Casey, James McGrath, Liam Casey (0-1), Niall McKenna (0-1), Padraig Whelan, Paddy O’Flaherty, Benny Hickey (0-3), Johnny McMahon (1-3), Dean Lonergan (1-1), Robbie Costigan,. Junior Hurling Championship
After a frustrating week at the office last week, our hurlers had to dust themselves down and focus on the task in hand which was to play Grangemockler/Ballyneale last Saturday in the Championship, Cahir got off to a great start and played well all the way to the break, where the lads went in leading by six points, half time score Cahir 1-12 Grangemockler/Ballyneale 0-7.
After the break Cahir found the going a little harder and with some decisions not going their way Cahir held on to draw the game, final score Cahir 2-17 Grangemockler/Ballyneale 3-14.
It has to be said the lads picked themselves up and done very well this week, as we said last week onwards and upwards, well! We got the onwards from all players only the upwards left to do and we know this will come well done to all players and mentors, team and scorers: Keelan Hickey, James Walsh, Noel O’Gorman, Oisin Moloney, Eoin Donaghy (0-2), Aidan Casey, Tom O’Gorman, Conor Casey (1-0), Ger Hally, Aaron Murphy, Johnny McMahon (0-2), Ciaran O’Donnell, Daire O’Brien (0-2), Johnny B. O’Brien, Ryan Murphy (1-11), Subs Used: Dean Lonergan, Sean Kiernan, Niall McKenna
To all our younger members who made their first Holy Communion last weekend we hope you and your families had a great time and everything went well.
Yes we know (not this again) but yes it is for the last time the County Draw has been put back a week to help all the sellers get their tickets in on time as the demand is high, so again we thank you for your support, and if anyone out there would like to join the draw with us please get in touch with any club officer and they will sort it out for you! But hurry closing date is only days away, thanks again.
DRAW THE JOKER
The draw the joker was held in Cahir House Hotel on last Sunday night and the Jackpot prize of €5,800.00 was not won. Ann O’Dwyer won €150 and other prize winners were Michael Burke, Ned Brophy, Paul Adamson and William Moroney. This week’s draw is worth €6,000 and will be held in The Abbey Tavern.
Well done to our under 12 team who had a good win over Gortnahoe in Duneske last Wednesday night.
Best of luck to all those doing Junior and Leaving Cert next week.
Congrats to Orla Mc Eniry and Roisin Howard who were part of the Tipperary Senior squad that took on Cork in the Munster Final in Cashel last week. This young team put it up to Cork but alas lost out in the end by a single point. Orla who played in goal, came off her line on a number of occasions, kept a clean sheet against the current all-Ireland Champions and her puck outs were always delivered with pinpoint accuracy to a team mate. Roisin Howard when introduced found the going tough against an experienced Cork defence.
Our under 10 team got to play against Youghal at half-time, this was a great honour for these young girls to perform before a large crowd and they thoroughly enjoyed their experience.
