Men’s Shed Funding

€20,290 for Tipperary Men's Sheds.

While the minister has allocated €500,000 for men's sheds nationally the 14 sheds in Tipperary are able to apply for the €20,290 allocated to Tipperary.

The grant is for equipment and minor repairs according to Shed supporter Cllr Andy Moloney.

The single biggest issue with Most sheds is the rise in Insurance and over the past few years.

While sheds are a great place for men to meet and talk, it's the cost of insurance is the biggest talking point.

Sheds are a great support to their local communities Cahir is no different as the lads help out Tidy Towns with repairs, the Meet and Train group with stewarding and all the local schools and day care facilities in the area. They play music on a weekly basis and have participated in the Men on the Move programme as well as cookery courses and much more.

The Cahir shed participate in St Patrick's Day parade and Panto as well as making Fairy Doors and benches for local schools but Moloney feels a national deal on insurance would be welcome.

Sheds can apply through their local LCDC before 31st August for funding and Moloney warns them to be patient with the application.
