Mountain & Blue Way walks in August
August 4th Siul Eile - Tipp Top Challenge The 'Tipp Top Challenge' has been ongoing since June 14th. The participants have now climbed three of the five peaks (see map). The final two will take place on August 4th and 11th.On August 4th the group will climb Knockmealdown Mountain. At 794 m (2,605 ft) it is the highest peak of the Knockmealdown range, located along the border of Tipperary and Waterford.The group will start the walk at the car park overlooking Bay Lough at the Vee Gap after registration/sign in at Clogheen Community Hall between 9.30am -10am.Refreshments will be provided in Clogheen Community hall after the walk.Booking at Eventbrite.August 11th Suir Blue Way - Clonmel Busking Festival WeekendWalk 20km from Carrick on Suir to Clonmel or, if you'd rather, a shorter 8km walk from Kilsheelan to Clonmel. Registration is at Clonmel Tourist Office at the Main Guard and a talk on the history of the towpath will start at 10am.Run in conjunction with the Clonmel Busking Festival, there will be a selection of entertainment for participants along the way. Registration is from 9-10am for the 20km walk at Clonmel's Main Guard. Buses leave at 10am sharp. Registration from 10-11am for the 8km walk. Buses leave at 11am sharp.Tickets must be purchased in advance, they are €21.50 at Clonmel Tourist Office, The Main Guard, Clonmel or online at TicketWeb.ie.August 11th Siul Eile - Tipp Top Challenge Galtymore 919 m (3,015 ft) is on the border between Tipperary and Limerick. It is the highest point in both counties. It is also the highest inland mountain in Ireland. The group will start the walk from the 'Black Road' outside Kilbehenny having first registered at Burncourt Community Hall between 9.30am -10am.Refreshments will be provided in Burncourt hall after the walk.Online booking at Eventbrite.
