Cahir Tidy Towns

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group would like to thank all those who turned out last Saturday for the National Spring Clean Cahir Day. The group are very active weeding at the moment and preparing beds for the year ahead. Please don?t let last Saturday be a one off clean up and we are encouraging everyone to just do the bit outside their own gate and we should be looking good for the judging. We need to get the hoarding fixed on the old co-op site and have it painted as well as some gate painting. The Car park is looking well since it was resurfaced and we look forward to the completion of the Mitchelstown Road and Church Street in the coming weeks also. The sensory Garden had the new gate erected and just needs to finish the cobbles before the entry goes in.The grass has been cut in old church street cemetery and Cahir abbey cemetery. It?s the time of year again when people should be thinking about hanging baskets and we are also working with the council on the renovation of the Ha Ha. We will continue to meet on Wednesdays in the Market Yard at 7pm.

Cahir Meet & Train

The last 2 years have been phenomenal for this group and new members coming along every week. It was great to see over 60 from the group taking part in the Morrisson Run last Wednesday and joggers, runners and walkers enjoying themselves even though it was a cold evening. Just to put it all into perspective, some of the lads did the run last year in 34 minutes and this year improved to 27 minutes. Others improved form 44 minutes to 36 minutes while new comers who didn?t run 2 months ago were completing the course non-stop. We must not forget the walkers who are well ahead of the game in the walking races as the guys were all finishing very strongly. Due to demand we will continue with Meet & train on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7.30pm. our next target is the Poulmucka 5km predict your time on Friday 22nd May at 7.30pm
