Cahir GAA Club Notes

RIP

Our club would like to offer our condolences to the Darcy and extended family on the recent death of Michael Darcy RIP. Our thoughts are with the Darcy and extended family at this sad time, may he rest in peace.

Minor” A” football championship

Saturday evening last we went to our neighbours Ballylooby to play the third round of the Minor Championship and faced a combo team made up from Ballyporeen and Clonmel Óg, Our young men started from the whistle and points from Jake Kiely (pictured1) and Kevin Grogan got Cahir off to the perfect start, by now the team (captained by Sean Murphy pictured below 2) were playing with flare, pace and taking well thought out scores, ten minutes in Cahir were rampant and it was the same amount of time for the combo team to register their first score of the half, few minutes later Jake Kiely scored our teams first goal, football from our perspective was the winner at this stage as the team were playing great stuff, our second goal came on fifteen minutes when a move started inside our 45 was worked up the field and finished by the same player that started it Dylan Fitzgerald, the lads were now in complete control of this one and at the break the score was 2-07 to 0-04,

The second thirty got off to the same start with Cahir putting a stronghold on the game, three more green flags and four more points and the game was over as a contest, Davy McEniry (manager) and his selectors wisely emptied their bench to give as many players as allowed a run which will serve them well further down the line in this championship, over all a great game and well worth the entry fee with our young men playing fluid, fast football and a joy to watch we can't wait for the next game which is coming on next Wednesday evening in Ardfinnan when this bunch of players take on Clonmel Commercials, throw in 19:00pm, please come along and give your support to the team, best of luck to all the panel and management team, full team and scorers: Killian Halpin, Darragh Heffernan, Christopher McDonagh, Tommy McDonagh, Francie Delaney, Eoghann Kelly, Eoin Wyse, Mark Casey, Stephen Grogan (0-2), Jake Fitzgerald (0-1), Dylan Fitzgerald (1-1), Tommy Magner, Jake Kiely (1-1), Sean Murphy (1-3), Kevin Grogan (1-2). Subs: Nicholas Reidy (1-1), Robert Kelly, Owen Heffernan, Liam Hickey, David Clifford
