Longer hours for Cahir Tourist Office- Moloney
Councillor Andy Moloney received the news yesterday that Cahir Tourist Office will open on 24th April for the new season. Moloney welcomed the news that the 5 weeks extra this year is a huge boost to Tourism in the Area and should greatly benefit the locality. Following extensive lobbying over the year to have our sites open longer and we can now concentrate on real promotion. Last week alone saw over 300 pilgrims walk the St Declans Way and already the next stage is a sell out. We need to continue to promote all that is available in the area and sell sites such as Cahir Castle, Swiss Cottage, Cahir Abbey, Mitchelstown Caves, St Declans Way, the Butler Trail and much much more to hold visitors in Cahir for a day. This will be a huge benefit to the many Restaurants, Pubs, Accommodation and shops in the locality and the onus is on us all to promote all that is good. We have as much to offer as the best of them once we get word out and working with Tipperary Tourism, Munster Vales and Ireland's Ancient East we can achieve this. On a sad note, Cllr Moloney said that we cannot let this opportunity go without remembering Bernie Murphy who passed away earlier this year and during her time in the Cahir office Bernie was actively promoting Cahir Walking Tours.
