Cahir Park AFC Notes

Cahir Park AFC 3
Redmondstown 1

In what was a must win game in Cahir Park on Sunday the lads were outstanding from start to finish. They got off to a quick start with a goal from Jonas Kerr after 6 minutes. The park were well on top and had chances to go further ahead but didn't take them before Paddy O Donnell got Redmondstown level when he was given too much time on the edge of the box and shot low to the keepers right. Straight from the restart the lads got going again were back in front within ten mins with the second from Jonas Kerr after a great finish from a tight angle. With commanding displays in midfield from James Darcey , Shane Murphy and James Mcgrath and in defence we had Stephen Woods and Shane Power giving there all the park were well on top and got their third goal from a Shane Murphy Free kick just before half time. The park started the second half brightly but couldn't find a fourth goal but we're comfortable at the back also. Well done to all the players who have stuck together and have given themselves a chance of survival in the league now with seven points gained from the last three games. Next up is a home game against our neighbours Burncourt Celtic for a place in the Tipperary Cup semi final next Sunday.

U14 girls played Cashel Town A in a tough Cup game on Sunday in Duneske.  The game was a tough one from kick off and Cashel quickly put themselves ahead with a long range goal catching Cahir unawares.  From there the Cahir girls settled and fought hard to win the ball with a combination of Shannon Morrissey and Robin Carey eventually pulling a goal back to make it 1-1.  The Cashel keeper was very strong and pulled off great saves throughout the game.  Cahir kept battling and Casey Allen found the back of the net to put Cahir into the lead.  Ciara Morrissey bravely pulled off great saves to keep Cashel at bay until the final whistle when it ended 2-1 to Cahir.  The girls will contest the Cup semi final in two weeks time.  Team:  C Morrissey, N McKenna, R Condon, M Coffey, S Morrissey, N Keating, E Maher, R Carey, C Allen, L Fitzgerald, L Ward, R Doyle.  Well done girls and keep up the hard work.
