Swiss Cottage To Re Open For St Patrick's

Re-opening March 16th 2018.

One of the finest examples of a Cottage Orne in the world. Built for Lord Cahir, Richard Butler, in the early 1800's, believed to be designed by Regency architect John Nash. This fairytale-like cottage was an ideal location for the Butlers to spend an afternoon as it still is today for those who would like to step back in time. Enjoy a guided tour of the 4 beautifully decorated rooms, learning about the cottage and the famous Butler family history. Spend some quiet time in the garden, admiring the beautiful surroundings. You may also make some new friends as there is an abundance of wildlife in the parkland. The squirrels have been known to venture into the garden.

Getting to Swiss Cottage couldn't be easier. It is only a 5 minute drive from Cahir Town via the R680 Ardfinnan Road. Parking is free. If you are feeling a bit more energetic , why not walk 25 minutes along the beautiful Coronation Path which takes you through the woods by the river. Watch carefully as you go, some friendly fairies have built a wonderful village among the trees. You cannot miss their brightly coloured doors!

Admission times to Swiss Cottage are 10am-5.15pm 7 days a week. Allow at least 1 hour for your visit. Access to the rooms is by guided tour only. Free car park including 2 bus spaces. Primary and secondary school groups can avail of free admission if they are booked in advance.
