U21s defend their football title with win

Here we go again for another year, after the winter break we were out last Sunday in the U21 B football championship first round V Grangemockler/Ballyneale in Kilsheelan, a mixture of young and guys up to the age limit, our team took to the field captained by Brian McKenna (pictured) and played the first half with a strong wind at their backs, a physical game from both sides endured for the first thirty minutes to keep scores at a premium, with Cahir getting the better scores from the likes of Alan O'Connor and Sean Murphy just to name two, a yellow card for Keelan Looby would have consequences later on in this even contest, for the Grange/bally outfit they would only get one score in the half from play, at the break the score board read 0-07 to 0-05 in Cahir's favour, after the break Sean Murphy drew first blood with a well taken point, and remember that yellow card, sadly that was doubled and Cahir were down one for most of the second half, our opposite's chipped away at the score line until a well worked team goal which included Ger Quinn and finished by Conor O'Brien put daylight between the sides, Cahir soaked up a lot of pressure which could be said was self-made by the amount of frees given away as Grangemockler again only scored once from play in the second half, but Cahir stayed on their game and held out for the three point win, over all a good game for this time of year and our young men showed great character and determination, a few knocks and mild injuries were taken home with the team but hopefully nothing to bad, full time score 1-10 to 0-10 , full team and scorers:

Patrick O'Donovan, Patrick Meehan, Keelan Looby, Robert Burke, Colin McEniry, Conor Cashman, Ger Quinn (0-2), Stephen Grogan, Cavan McKenna, Brian McKenna, Sean Murphy (0-2), Eanna Heffernan, Conor O'Brien (1-0), Alan O'Connor (0-5), Darragh Howard (0-1). Subs Used: Kevin Grogan, Mark Casey, Eoin O'Neill

Our in Inter-county teams were out in senior football, senior hurling, ladies football, there were great wins for the footballers the men had a triumph over Cork (our own Liam Casey pictured played the full second half) and our ladies travelled to Armagh in the Lidl NFL division 2 which Cahir player Aisling Moloney helped launch during the week gone by, (also pictured below) and came home with the win, our hurlers were second in Ennis last Sunday but we reckon it was just a blip, and we can be sure they will turn it around next time out, well done to all teams great start to the new season.

Congratulations to two more young lady footballers from Cahir won were members of the Cashel Community School ladies football team who became Munster champions last week, they were (L -R pictured below) Fiona McEniry and Elma Casey, well done young ladies, we know ye will have a bright future ahead in the football world great stuff.

Saturday the 10th of March 2018 in Cahir House Hotel, Cahir GAA will hold a fund raiser for the club as we do around this time of year for the last few years and this year we think it will be a very special one, for one night only Cahir GAA will present THE 2 JOHNNIES show called THE BIG SHOW SMALL SHOW, the two local lads and club players and members will put on their sold out show for the first and only time in their home town this year, these two guys are selling out gigs everywhere they go around the country, it is simply a great show and not to be missed (see poster below), tickets are now on sale and selling fast, you can get tickets from most club members in the Senior, Juvenile, Camogie and ladies football clubs and in Cahir House Hotel, the gig is an over sixteen event, you have been warned get those tickets straight away to avoid disappointment, cost of ticket is €20, cheap for the entrainment the 2 JOHNNIES will give you.

Our weekly fund raiser is again going very well and as we do always we thank you all for the great support you give us all the time, this week we were in Cahir House Hotel, here are the results: Kevin & Breeda O'Neill, Mary & Roisin Howard, Tommy Flynn, R. Coffey and John O'Donoghue.

As always we want to hear from you, if you want to share an occasion, a birthday or whatever the news is, (pictures would be great) you can contact us at the following email address thank you
