Our club would like to offer our condolences to the Guthrie family and extended family on the death of Bridget Guthrie (nee O'Donnell) RIP, who pasted away over the Christmas period, our thoughts are with all the family, may she rest in peace.

Unfortunately we have to bring you more sad news, the death has occurred of Gearóid O'Donnell (Loughloher) RIP, son of Mary and Tom, our club want to offer our condolences to the O' Donnell and extended family, and our thoughts are with all the family at this sad time, Gearóid will be Reposing at Costigan's Funeral Home Cahir on this Monday evening from 4pm to 8pm. Gearóid's remains will arrive to St. Mary's church Cahir on Tuesday morning for funeral Mass at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery, Flowers or donations if desired to Muscular Dystrophy (Cork Branch) May he rest in peace.

New Year new beginnings for our club, we want to wish everybody a happy new year and let's hope it is a successful 2018 for us all.

On Friday the 5th last we had our medal presentation night for our U21 South football and hurling champions in Cahir House Hotel, a great evening was had with all the players in attendance, the football manager Tony McKenna presented the footballers with their medals and Pat Cashman hurling manager presented the hurling team with their medals, also on the night we honoured the five Cahir ladies footballer's (Emma Buckley, Aisling McCarthy, Aishling Moloney, Roisin Howard, and Rachel O' Donnell) who had a very good year with their county team who had All-Ireland success, a little token was presented to them by our Chairman Pat O' Brien, Pat also presented tokens to honour our male players (Liam Casey, Stephen Grogan, Nickolas Reidy, Sean Murphy, Cavan McKenna) who also had county involvement and success with various hurling and football teams, below in first photo is the winning U21 football team , and second photo is the hurling champions

Thank you to everyone who worked hard to organise the evening, Cahir House for the great food, Leah O'Donoghue for all the photos and Maria Taylor from the nationalist, photos below, 1 shows Pat O' Brien presenting a trophy to Roisin Howard, and 2 again Pat with winning hurling manager Pat Cashman, 3 Tony McKenna football manager with football captain Mikey O'Connor.

Don't forget our AGM will be held in the club rooms next Saturday evening the 13th at 8pm all are welcome.

The county clubs draw for the month of January was held last Friday evening, unfortunately we had no winners from our club, “petty” but all we can do is keep trying, thank you all for your continued support, our luck will change!

Our fun game Draw the Joker continued over the festive season when we were in the Abbey Tavern and the Shamrock Lounge, and as always we were looked after very well by both Establishment's, last Sunday evening we were in Morrissey's bar again looked after very well, our jackpot now stands at €6,600, as always we thank you for you continued support of our draw which is our main fund raiser, (below are a few photos from the Christmas period) this week's results: Con & Kelly O'Brien, David O'Gorman, Nora Cusack, Pajo O'Halloran & Trevor Allen.

Below our 2017 u16s were in Waterford lately Ice skating, not sure much skating went on! Looks like they were stuck to the wall, still they all enjoyed it.

Cahir Christmas lights

As a club we are delighted to give a donation to the Christmas lights in the town again this year, we think they look great and well done to all the groups involved with this project, the town looks as good and sometimes better as any other town in the country, (pictured below (L TO R) Pat O' Brien (chairman), Maria Taylor (CDA promoting Cahir group) John O'Donoghue (PRO) and Michéal Fahy (treasurer) presenting our donation to the Christmas lights).
