Cahir Tidy Towns Planning 2018
Cahir Tidy Towns were very active over the past few weeks. Thanks to all who completed litter picks on the by pass, approach roads and it town. The litter situation has been a huge concern of late with 18 bags collected on one pick on the by pass while another 21 bags in town on 4 separate days after Christmas. The fly tipping is a huge concern as most of the dumping is material that can be recycled. We have started preparing the bed in the car park for new planting and this should be completed once we can get some dry top soil into it.The toilets are coming along well and should be ready for 17th March. The hoarding at the co-op site has been replaced so we will need to paint once weather allows. Many of the daffodils we planted are starting to appear and while they won't make any difference to our judging the will look attractive for the spring. We are still debating on the hill behind St Paul's, last year we did a trial with a wildflower meadow and hopefully a more permanent planting plan this year that will give color from the bridge looking across. So it's all go at an early stage trying to protect our Bronze Medal. We meet on Wednesday in the Grotto for a cleanup at 7pm and will discuss further from there and new members are welcome to call along.
