Cahir’s Niamh Delahunty Is On Top Of The World

Cahir's Niamh Delahunty is currently in Kathmandu, Nepal, volunteering at a small orphanage and local school.

'Possible Nepal' is a small orphanage located on the outskirts of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. It was established in 2012 and supports 10 young people between the ages of 5-13 to live, study and attend school. Kapeel is the founder who himself lives with his own young family on the top floor, which also houses visiting volunteers here to support the orphanage. He is humbly supported by his right hand woman Gopila, who runs a tight ship- the mother of the home; feeding, caring and teaching everyday skills with a heart of gold. Volunteers are becoming more plentiful who offer English lessons in the children's school, work and play with the pupils outside of school hours and support the development and upkeep of the children's home. However funding is ever scarce and hugely appreciated. Niamh has seen firsthand how funds received are used to directly meet the absolute and academic needs of the pupils. With the limited resources available, Kapeel has done a wonderful job of creating a rich environment where the children can thrive. However the building itself could definitely do with some work, and funding is continually directed to paying rent, school fees, upkeep of school resources, increasingly warmer clothes and blankets as winter makes its way to Kathmandu, and day to day running costs of a large home.

All donations are hugely welcome and can be donated through the link: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/possiblenepal
