Moloney invites submissions on Farm Safety

Councillor Andy Moloney informs the public that a report is been compiled on the very important subject of Farm Safety. A recent publication by the Health & Safety Authority this month of its end of year figures for Industrial accidents paints a very disturbing picture of the current state of safety on farms. Last year there was and an increase of 87% recorded in farm related deaths. This was up from 16 in 2013 to 30 in 2014. Of the 30 deaths, five of which were Children. Farming was responsible for 55% of all industrial fatalities in 2014. Interested groups or individuals are invited to submit written submissions and forward them to for inclusion. Your thoughts on how to reduce these disturbing figures are welcomed.
