Moloney invites submissions on Farm Safety

Councillor Andy Moloney informs the public that a report is been compiled on the very important subject of Farm Safety. A recent publication by the Health & Safety Authority this month of its end of year figures for Industrial accidents paints a very disturbing picture of the current state of safety on farms. Last year there was and an increase of 87% recorded in farm related deaths. This was up from 16 in 2013 to 30 in 2014. Of the 30 deaths, five of which were Children. Farming was responsible for 55% of all industrial fatalities in 2014. Interested groups or individuals are invited to submit written submissions and forward them to andy.moloney@tipperarycoco.ie for inclusion. Your thoughts on how to reduce these disturbing figures are welcomed.
