Cahir GAA Notes

Ladies football

Our senior ladies football team were in action last Sunday in the Munster B final in Limerick University pitch, as result of change of venue; sadly it was not the best of days at the office for our players when they came up against a well experienced Ballymacarbry side from Waterford, final score in this one was 5-20 to 2-10, this was the first time our Cahir ladies played at this level and it will take a little longer to come to terms with this level, but we know this young team will learn and it won't be long before they master senior level, anyhow what a great season this team and management had, senior county champions and Munster finalists for the first time in the history of the club, fitting as the club celebrate twenty years in existence, commiserations ladies and also well done and thank you for the great journey this year and let's hope it will all happen again next year.

Bad weather

With the couple of storms we had over the last week or so our fixtures are all up in the air for now especially for our U21 and junior B hurling teams , we are sure as soon as things settle fixtures will be made and we will bring them to a soon as we can.

Draw the Joker

This week the Galtee Inn was our venue for our weekly fun game draw the joker, again we thank you all for your support with our weekly fund raiser which is vital for our club, you can now listen to our results on Tipp. Mid-West radio every Tuesday morning, and we thank them for the great job done by all in the radio station, this week's winners are as follows: Cahir Steel, Eddie Hally, John Kendrick, Mary Walsh and Liam Shinnick.

Congratulations to club man Tommy O Donnell who on Saturday last won his 150th cap for Munster, and also came away with a win against Racing 92, 14 points to 7, well done Tommy great achievement we are all very proud as are your family.

Our now annual mass for our deceased members, family and loved ones will held this year on Saturday 11th in St. Marys church at 7-30pm, please tell all you can, as was last year there will be a cuppa and a chat afterwards in the club rooms, a few weeks away yet but we will remind you all over the next few weeks.

As always we want to hear from you, if you want to share an occasion, a birthday or whatever the news is, (pictures would be great) you can contact us at the following email address thank you.

How about this

Congratulations to Rob and Ann Walsh (nee O' Brien, daughter of John and Peggy) on birth of their son Donncha who came into this world on the 17th of this month, both mother and son doing well, Donncha is pictured in his tractor outfit, (a making's of a young famer in grandad O'Brien's eyes!), hopefully not too many sleepless nights for Rob and Ann.

Happy Birthday

To Francis Murray a good friend to Cahir GAA, have a good one Francis enjoy.

Juvenile Club

The Juvenile club would like to thank everybody that supported our coffee morning which was held in the club rooms after each mass on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. All proceeds going to The Evan Hickey Brain Surgery Fund. Thanks to everyone that donated cakes and your time over the weekend. Especially to Larry, Maura, Charlotte, Rosie, Martin, Breda and Pat for all their time effort and commitment. Unfortunately our U16 hurling tournament was unable to go ahead on Sunday due to the recent bad weather but has been preliminary rearranged for Sunday 5th November.
