Andy Moloney from the Cahir Meet and Train Group accepted an award as a volunteer in sport which was sponsored by the South Tipp Sports partnership at the recent Canon Hayes Awards held recently in Ballykisteen Golf Hotel.
The awards in this category acknowledge people who have volunteered to exceptional levels within the past 12 months and the Cahir Meet & Train Group have excelled in 2014.
What started off as an Operation Transformation last January in aid of the Shaun Fogarty appeal turned out to be a bigger event than expected with members forming the M & T group and a lot of participation in local races and even as far as half marathons.
The initiative organised by the Cahir Tidy Towns was a real success story and Chairman Andy Moloney accepted the award at the Black Tie event last week. We will keep it going again in 2015 he says and an information night will be held in Duneske at 7pm on the 5th January with pre-registration a must due to demand.
Andy was nominated with fellow recipients Mary Doyle , Clonmel AC, James O Reilly ,St Michaels AFC, Anne O Dwyer, Annacarthy Camogie and Jean Hayden, Cashel Camogie. The awards were presented by Minister of Sport Michael Ring. Also in picture is Valerie Connolly of STSP
