Cahir GAA Notes

It was a dark week in our parish when we learnt of the deaths of two young people during the week, Tara Shine R.I.P. and James Tobin R.I.P.; the club would like to offer our condolences to both the Shine and the Tobin family and their extended families, our thoughts are with both families at this sad time, may they rest in peace

Minor A hurling play-off

The second play -off for our minors was played last Wednesday in Monroe, this was a winner takes all match, importunely this match was a match too far for our lads, although not completely out of it at half time 3-04 to 1-04, the second half was one to forget for our young men, our opponents were going to raise the green flag another four times before full time, (below Pa Meehan in action for Cahir)

Full time score was Cahir 1-10, Ballingarry 7-13, not the best of outcomes but to be playing A hurling is great for these young men and we hope it was a learning process for us all, before we finish we want to thank all the players and management for their time and effort during the last few months, full team and scorers, Nicholas Reidy, Conor McKenna, Ger Quinn, Eoin O'Neill, Tommy McDonagh, Patrick Meehan (0-2), Eoghan Kelly, Cavan McKenna, Colin McEniry (0-1), Paulie Barrett (0-8), Dylan Fitzgerald, Mark Casey (1-0), Sean Murphy, Conor O'Brien (0-1), Tommy Magner. Subs: Oisin O Suilleabhain, jack Moloney, Rory Browne, Christopher McDonagh, Conor Kirwan, Patrick O'Donovan.

Junior B football championship

Sunday last in Ardfinnan was the venue where our junior footballers played their third game of the championship,(above Daniel Moloney keeps a tight grip on the ball), Ballyporeen were the team that stood in front of Cahir, to our delight they didn't stand there too long, and by half time Cahir were in control of this match, 2-08 to 0-02, the second half Cahir continued the same way as they did in the first, a combination of young and shall we say not so young players seem to be the perfect mix on the Cahir side of things, enjoyable match to watch the full time score Cahir 3-18 Ballyporeen 0-04

(A rear sight, Brian Enright playing out field for the Junior B football team last Sunday) full team and scorers: Anthony Burke, John Sheehy, Noel O'Gorman, Dylan Walsh, Patrick Meehan (1-1), Paul Frazer (0-1), Liam Howard, Diarmuid Tarrant, Daniel Moloney, Conor O'Brien (1-1), Cavan McKenna, Tom O'Gorman (0-2)), Darragh Howard (0-1), Alan O'Connor (1-3), Keith Maguire (0-6). Subs Used: Ger Quinn, Rhys Chowtie (0-2), Colin McEniry, Brian Enright, Ger O'Gorman (0-1)

Draw the joker

Great excitement around the town with our jackpot being the second biggest we have ever had, and this is thanks to you all who support us each week, without you we could not run our fine club, the Galtee Inn was the venue last Sunday and the Jackpot of €11,400.00 was won. Congratulations to the syndicate of Eddie, Jim, Micheal and John, the lucky winners. The others winners on the night were Patsy Lonergan, Brendan Reardon, Robert Walsh and Denny Whelan. Next week the Draw will be in the Punters Rest with a Jackpot of €2,000.00.
