Cahir Tidy Towns Notes

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group would like to thank all those who contributed to our Annual Church Gate collection at the weekend. Unfortunately, it clashed with the Trocaire day but we have to take the date the Chief Superintendent gives us.

All the money collected will go directly back into making the town more attractive and encourage more visitors to the town. We added a lot more features this year and hope to spread out further next season.

Judging of the local competition will start on the 1st August with prizes in best shop fronts, hanging baskets, floral arrangements, gardens etc. Once again, the judges will be sought from outside the area and will judge all the town so this year we will not issue entry forms or charge a fee. They will only judge what's visible from the street and will do so over the first week of August. Best of luck to all and our awards night will be in September. We continue to do work in town and all the will be registered as part of next years competition. The street bins were adapted around town in an effort to stop domestic dumping. Good news this week also is that the new Toilets will start in September after finally sorting out the paperwork. It is hoped that they will be finished by Christmas. The town is blooming at the moment and many premises made a serious effort that has not gone unnoticed. Well done to everyone and keep up the good work.
