Minor “A” hurling championship

After their win last week our minors were again in Monroe (our home from home it seems lately) last Wednesday to play Ballyingarry, both teams started well in a fast paced game, the two teams traded points and at the break our young men had the minable of advantage 0-07 to 0-06, it has to be said Cahir should have had a better tally on the score board, but for the fact we had too many wides (on another day as they say it might have been different), the second half, again a fast one saw both teams again trade points, until the half way stage, Ballingarry scored the first goal of the match, Cahir settled and fought hard to stay with their opponents and the reward came when Kevin Grogan hit the back of the net (see pic below), to set up an exciting last few minutes, our lads pressed hard to take the win but we lost procession, and as result Ballingarry took the spoils in the shape of their second goal, time now against our men they could do no more and could not rescue the game, final score Cahir 1-13 Ballingarry 2-13, that goal being the difference between the two, what all that means now is that we are in a three way play off, ourselves, Mullinahone and again Ballingarry, with the top two going forward to the next stage of this competition, so we will do it all over again stating this week, we will confirm all dates and venues as soon as we can, (first pic above Colin McEniry in action) full team and scorers: Nicholas Reidy, Conor McKenna, Ger Quinn, Eoin O'Neill, Tommy McDonagh, Stephen Grogan, Eoghan Kelly, Colin McEniry, Dylan Fitzgerald (0-1), Sean Murphy (0-1), Patrick Meehan (0-6), Paulie Barrett (0-2), Conor O'Brien (0-1), Cavan McKenna (0-1), Kevin Grogan (1-1). Subs Used: Christopher McDonagh.

Inter County matters

What a weekend we all had with our county teams doing well in football and hurling, we will start with Ladies football who on Saturday became Munster champions at Intermediate level, beating Clare 4-09 to 1-13 with the help of five of our own ladies starting the match, Rachel O'Donnell (pictured), Emma Buckley, Aisling McCarthy, Aisling Moloney and Roisin Howard, all five ladies done their bit to help the team over the line, one other Cahir lady who is also on the panel is the unfortunate Aoife Corcoran (injured again), interestingly Tipp's four goals all came from our club ladies, and well done to Roisin who was player of the match, well done to all the panel of players and management, later the same evening our senior team played Cavan and had a very good come back to beat Cavan with help from club man Liam Casey (pictured), a great performance from the whole team well done to everybody, and finally to our senior hurlers who had a comfortable win over Dublin ,let's hope they are back on track and on their way to Croker in September.
