Dubliners showed off the true fabric of their city when almost 1,300 of them brought their warmth and colour to the streets of the capital in their best Christmas jumpers.
The world record for the most people wearing Christmas jumpers at the same time was set last night as 1,297 Dubliners donned their Geansai Nollaig on O'Connell Street.
They were among the thousands gathered outside the GPO for the Christmas tree lighting up ceremony, with the Lord Mayor Christy Burke tripping the switch.
"The Dubs are back," proclaimed Mr Burke, comparing the atmosphere to "being in Hill 16 when Dublin played Kerry in the All Ireland Final".
Members of the Halleluia Gospel Choir entertained the crowd, as did boyband Hometown, Linda Martin, Vladimir the Volinist and street performers, before the countdown began to light up the Christmas tree.
Richard Guiney, CEO of event organiser Dublin Town was delighted with the turnout. "It means a lot for Dubliners to come out and reclaim their city," he said.
