Cahir Gaa Notes
County U21 “B” Football FinalOur U21s were going for two in a row when they travelled to Leahy Park in Cashel last Saturday to play Clonoulty/Rossmore in the final, Cahir drew first blood with a point by Ryan Murphy from play, sadly that was to be our only one in the first half, Clonoulty/Rossmore took control from there on and were never going to give it up, two points from frees despatched by Alan O'Connor was to be our total for the first thirty minutes, at the break the score read Cahir 0-03 Clonoulty /Rossmore 0-06, the second half unfortunately did not get any better for our young men as they played against a strong breeze, and ten minutes in to the half our opponents raised the green flag, the turning point or what could have been, came shortly after the goal a shot from young Dylan Fitzgerald hit the cross bar, the shot was so fierce it rebounded nearly back to the 45, if it had gone under the bar it could have changed the game bringing Cahir within a point but it was not to be and as they say our goose was cooked, It was not a great day at the office for our lads, on another day who knows. look this is not the place or time to play the blame game we are here to help and encourage our young players, so we would like to thank all the players on the panel and the management team, Tony McKenna (Manager) Colm O'Flaherty Brian Enright and Johnny McMahon, thank you all for the journey you took us on, most of this team will play U21 next year and who knows where it might end, but remember Cahir are U21South “B” Champions for 2017, full team and scorers: Rares Stoica, Keelan Looby, Stephen Grogan, Patrick Meehan, Ryan Murphy (0-1), Brendan Donaghy, Ryan O'Donnell, Mikey O'Connor (0-2), Conor Cashman, Dylan Fitzgerald, Brian McKenna (0-1), Eanna Heffernan, Darragh Howard, Alan O'Connor (0-2), Jack Murphy. Cahir 6-07 Knockmealdown Gaels 4-05 On Monday last our U14 team played Knockmealdown Gaels in a playoff for the South Semi-final. Our boy's started well and took the game to the opposition, with very good link up play between our midfield and forwards which resulted in some very well taken scores. In the second half when we were under a lot of pressure our backs defended brilliantly and our goalkeeper pulled off some top drawer saves. The game ended with Cahir winning by 2-02 to reach a semi-final on Monday 22nd against Moyle Rovers Fixture U14 A South Semi-final Cahir V Moyle Rovers In Clonmel Sportsfield at 7:30pm.Congratulations.
