Best of luck to all the lads and let's hope they can retain the trophy that's held so close to our hearts in Cahir Park. Tipperary and Southern School Boys and Girls League and East Cork West Waterford League U16 Combined Cup Quarter FinalClonmel Celtic 2 Cahir Park AFC 6Two very much in form sides, Clonmel Celtic, newly crowned Championship League Champions and Cahir Park, Premier League Championsmet in this eagerly awaited U16 Combined Cup Quarter Final in Celtic Park Clonmel, on Friday night last. The Park started particularly well and enjoyed good spells of possession without really troubling the Celtic goal.A committed Celtic were being limited to breakaway attacks and were very unlucky on 18 minutes not to take the lead when Bartek Czyzewski somehow brought off a save when the Clonmel outfit seemed destined to score. Cahir should have heeded the warning and were undone on 25 minutes when Luke Condon broke clear and coolly slotted the opening goal. There was a positive reaction from Cahir Park who pushed Celtic back time and time again forcing a series of free kicks and corners but to no avail. Just on half time David Murphy rose to win a Clonmel Celtic kick out and powerfully headed the ball into the path of Shane Crosse who raced onto the ball and shot into the far corner of the net to see the sides level 1 - 1 at half time.Cahir appeared for the second half transformed and with a couple of positional changes were finding real space behind the Celtic backline. Then in a 5 minute spell The Park cut through the Celtic defence to score 3 times. The first came on 51 minutes from Rhys Byron who collected the ball on halfway and in a fine solo effort found the net. The next saw a 6 man Cahir Park move finished calmly on 53 minutes by Tommy McDonagh. The Cahir Park 4th came on 56 minutes when full back Jake Kiely played a series of passes finding himself in the opposing penalty area and shot across Billy Murphy in the Celtic goal and into the net. Rhys Byron grabbed his second on 64 minutes and got his Hat Trick on 72 minutes when he rounded the keeper to make the score line 6 - 1. From the kick off a rare Celtic attack saw a penalty awarded which Cian Duggan converted to see a final score line of 6 - 2.Cahir Park march on with their reward being a home Semi Final against yet unknown opponents.CAHIR BOYS SCHOOL COACHING PROGRAMME:This week saw the end of our school coaching programme with Cahir boys school in the form of a Soccer blitz. It was a 14 week programme for 2nd and 4th class where all 61 pupils took part . Over the duration of the Soccer course all participants mastered the skills of dribbling, passing, shooting and teamwork. Great fun was had by these boys each day both as individuals and as a team and all boys went away from the programme with loads of new skills built on and with great confidence. The club would like to thank Cahir Boys School and their staff for the opportunity to work with the school and pupils and we look forward to building on and expanding this programme with the school for years to come. The future of soccer is bright with this great bunch of young lads.CAHIR PARK GOLF CLASSIC 2017Cahir Park AFC will host there annual Fundraising Golf Classic on Friday June 2nd in Cahir Park Golf Club .
