Cahir To Be Represented In European Karate Championships

Congratulations to Michael Corbett, Stephen Whitney, Dillon Brett and Adam Whitney for being selected for the upcoming Shotokan Karate International, European Karate Championships being held in Prague, Czech Republic in May of this year! All four are members of the Tora-Kan Karate club in Ballyporeen and hail from in and around Cahir. Throughout several months of review with the national coaches, they qualified via a stringent trial and selection process. All four are very focused and determined to perform at the highest level for their respective categories, and have confidence they will do well.

The SKIF European Championships are the largest single style championships this year, with 28 countries competing and well over a 1000 competitors. It will be held in the Fortuna Arena in Hradec Kralove, home of the city's Ice hockey team and seats 7,700 spectators. It will have 8 arenas running at any given time and will be covered by local TV and papers.

This is a huge honour for the four competitors, but also a very proud moment for their instructor, Sensei Kevin Sullivan, and their club. We wish them all the very best and look forward to them representing our locality with pride and honour!
