What an amazing meeting last night for Cahir Rowing Club, we are still buzzing from it! Mike Curtin, our now Club Captain put together a great power point presentation explaining about all aspects of Rowing. It covered everything from the different types of boats and racing events right down to what you wear. For all the Junior and Senior, soon to be Members of Cahir Rowing Club that were there last night and who have never had any experience of Rowing it was really interesting and only added to the excitement of wanting to get onto the water and try this great sport. If that wasn't enough, he brought along his rowing machine and a few of our experienced Juniors demonstrated the way it should be used..... this turned into a competition in itself which saw our Club Captain joining in the race and beating them by two seconds !!! It was just a great night.
The Development Committee is now formed and we will all have to put our heads together with fund raising ideas. We will organise a meeting for that in the next few weeks which I shall put up on this page so keep an eye out for it but in the meantime get your thinking caps on.
But going forward we, as a club have been invited by Cappoquin Rowing Club to visit their Club and see first hand their Club setup, so we will be heading this Sunday morning 12th October to visit them whilst they are doing a training session. We are meeting in the Cahir Castle car park at 9am to be leaving Cahir by 9.15. We will travel in convoy so anyone who did not make the meeting is more than welcome to join us and if you have a problem with a lift I'm sure you will be able to catch a ride with someone. You can message me if you have any queries regarding this.
Finally a massive thank you to the Cahir House Hotel who have made us very welcome and been more than generous and supportive to the start up of Cahir Rowing Club. They have ran around after us for the past two meetings, getting more chairs and photocopying more information at the last minute.
Cahir is a great town, with great people and its those people who are going to make Cahir Rowing Club a fun, friendly and all round great Club to be a part of.
