Cahir Meet And Train Notes
All roads led to Cahir on Saturday last for the National Operation Transformation 5km walk. The 9.30am start and a drizzle didn't deter the large crowd from completing the 5km course. The Cahir Meet & Train group are holding their annual keep fit campaign to coincide with the RTE programme and Cahir has been given permission to host the Final 5km run on Saturday 18th February. Training will take part from Duneske every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm sharp and there are 5 levels of participation. There is something for everyone form walking to elite runners and in between. This is week 2 of the couch to 5km and numbers are growing. The event is coordinated by Tipperary Sports Partnership and last Saturday the organisers were ably assisted by the Gardai, civil defence and the Cahir Men's Shed. Thanks also to Billy in the new gym in Duneske and to Shelly for the warm up. There are some great offers in the gym to coincide with the 6 weeks of the Operation Transformation and participation on both nights is free. Anyone wanting to order a Meet and Train t-shirt should do so in the coming week as we will not be doing a new strip this year and can order some of the black if we get enough interested. This weeks exercise programme is 3 minutes walking warm up and then 90 seconds running, 90sec walking, 3 minutes jogging and 3 minutes walking and repeat 3 times before walking the remainder of the 5km course.Footage by Cahir Media of last weeks event was aired on RTE last night.
