Cahir Tidy Towns Notes

Now that we face a new year and new challenges in Cahir Tidy Towns, we must look back on our achievements of 2016. We stand proudly on 304 points in the National Competition and these marks are down to years of hard work by the current group and the many that kept Tidy Towns going back as far as the 60s.

Many towns would love to have the attractions that we have in Cahir and with numbers due to increase in Tourism again in 2017 we would hope that we can add to the backdrop of the Castle and the Swiss Cottage as showpieces for Cahir. There are many other attractions such as the fabulous St Pauls and Cahir Abbey and we hope to open the Ice House by Easter. We have some lovely trails and tracks to be explored and we will enhance some of these with a Fairy Trail that we are working with the Men's Shed and VTOS. A revamped Sensory Garden project by the Pathways to Employment group based in Cahir Business and Training Centre will be opened soon and with some new businesses occupying vacant properties we have a lot to look forward to.

We would like to thank all those who supported our efforts in 2016 and those in the media for weekly reports.

Our popular Table Quiz this year is fixed for Saturday 18th February in the Shamrock Lounge and will go ahead at 9pm sharp so keep the date free and as always please come early to get a table. Max per table is 4 and cost is €20.

In the meantime, if you are looking for some exercise please join us on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7.30 in Duneske.
