Swiss Road Repairs And Cycle Lane Design Been Prepared
At the recent Municipal meeting of the Clonmel Borough District, Mayor Cllr Andy Moloney asked the question on the progress of the cycle lane on the Clogheen Road, Cahir and the provision of lighting as far as the factory where 650 people were employed and a lot were pedestrian and cyclists. He said that the road was wide enough to include a lane and it was also in the interest of health and safety.In response to the question, it was pointed out that budgetary costs associated with taken in charge of estates was a priority along with maintenance cost. It was pointed out that works had commenced on the provision public lighting and cycle lane needs to form pat pet of a capital works programme and a design is being prepared with a view to looking at opportunities for funding in 2017. There will be no further works in this area in 2016. However, plans to repair the roadway to the Swiss Cottage have advanced and it is hoped these will be completed before Christmas. Cllr Moloney welcomed the news as the Swiss Cottage had its busiest year yet and it is estimated that a further 7% increase next year in the area.
