Cllr Moloney Calls For Disability Repairs

Cllr Andy Moloney has requested that immediate repairs be carried out to poor footpaths in certain areas of the town of Cahir.

The town is home to many wheelchair users and also we have a lot of Brothers of charity houses and Gateway users around the streets. We also have a nursing home in the centre of the town and older persons maisonettes in 2 estates.

A survey has been completed on which areas need attention and he has asked for some emergency funds to be drawn down to carry out these works before Christmas.

With attractions such as the Castle and the Swiss Cottage we need to become a gold standard town for wheelchair users and give these people some level of independence. It would also be a benefit to the Carers who are at risk of injury while trying to manoeuvre over the current obstacles.
