Cahir GAA Notes

Sadly this week we offer our condolences to four families from our area who were or their families part of our club at some stage over the years they are as follows,

Theresa Roche R. I. P.

Michael Lonergan R. I. P.

Chrissie Farrell R. I. P.

John O'Doherty R. I. P.

Our thoughts are with all four families at this sad time.

U21 hurling

At long last the U21 hurling championship started last weekend when our men travelled to Ned Hall Park to play Mullinahone last Sunday at noon. For the first game this year, not making any excuses, it must be said Cahir were not at full strength and did not have a lot of work done for the simple fact nobody knew when this competition was going to start until very late on, anyhow on it went and unfortunately our boys were second in this race and with a last minute goal from our opponents it put a little gloss on their final tally, look guys first game gone let's get together and we can bounce back and look forward to the next couple of games which are not beyond us, final score Cahir 2-9 Mullinahone 3-12 The team and scorers were as follows:

Keelan Hickey, James Walsh, Keelan Looby, Eoin O'Neill, Brian McKenna, Conor Cashman, Dylan Walsh, Aaron Murphy (1-2), Darragh Howard, Kieran Davis, Niall McKenna, Ian Flannery (0-2), Eanna Heffernan, Liam Casey (1-1), Conor O'Brien (0-4).

Don't forget our club will hold a mass to remember all our deceased members and friends of our club over the years; we would like to invite everybody including The Cahir Slashers, the Wild Rovers era and up to the present day members, friends, supporters and anybody connected with the club to be with us on this special evening, this special mass will be held on Saturday 12th of November at 7-30pm, with some light refreshments and hopefully some great chat afterwards.

County Draw

The monthly draw was held last Friday evening for the month of October, after a baron spell for the Club in this draw we finally had a bit of luck when three of our member's names popped out of the drum, we had a € 2,000 winner (Joe Fenton), a €200 (John & Bridget Moloney) and a €100 winner (Eddie Lonergan), well done to all three, that's the start we were looking for and let's hope next month will be even more fruitful to us all, we thank you for your continued support with the draw.

Draw the joker

Our popular fun game draw the joker is still going strong and we would like to thank everybody in the club and the general public for their continued support. Did you know when we hold the draw we give five prizes away on the night, that's twenty per month and not many other draws in our area can say that, it's always a great evening, so please come along some Sunday evening and join us you might never know it could be your lucky night. The draw is well advertised and tickets are available from club members and various outlets around the town. The cost of tickets is as follows €2 each or 3 for €5, again thank you for your support, without it we would find it very difficult to keep our club running. This week's draw was held in The Punters Rest on Sunday night and P. J. O'Meara won €100. Other winners were Paul Tarrant, Martin Hurley, Tommy Barrett and John O'Donoghue. The draw was witnessed by Tina from The Punters Rest. The Draw will be held next week in Cahir House Hotel when the Jackpot will be €3,400 All are welcome
