McGrath & Lonergan welcome funding for Road Safety Works & Kilmolash Lower

Independent Representatives, Deputy Mattie McGrath and Councillor Martin Lonergan have both welcomed the allocation of funding for road safety works to be carried out at Kilmolash Lower on the N24 between Clonmel and Cahir.

Funding which was sourced from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) by the Local Authority will see €25,000 spent in the area following a number of accidents which have occurred on that particular section of roadway in recent years.

Works will include the piping of roadside drains and creating a hard surface shoulder along the side of the N24 carriageway along with extra safety road markings and signage which will also be provided through the funding.

Commenting on the news both Deputy McGrath and Councillor Lonergan hoped that this would finally address serious safety concerns at Kilmolash Lower where, on numerous occasions, accidents have occurred. They also hope that works will finally alleviate concerns of the local residents whose, in some instances, property boundaries have been breached by heavy goods vehicles in particular after losing control on the road. Both said that they now hoped once works are completed that any further accidents, of a serious nature causing serious injury or worse, can be averted.
