Commenting on the results Cllr. Lonergan said,

“Tipperary County Council held its annual Tidy School Competition in May 2016. Schools were visited and judged with regard to their litter management policy, litter awareness, tidiness of their school grounds and the schools overall appreciation of the environment. Almost 60 entries were received County wide, with prize money totaling over €8500 being awarded.

The Tidy Schools Competition encourages both Primary and Secondary Schools in Tipperary to battle for the title of Tidiest School in Tipperary. The main emphasis of the competition is on litter awareness, waste management and on appreciation of our general environment. The Schools which achieved recognition in the Borough District should be proud of their achievements and I want to particularly congratulate the pupils and staff in the Schools for promoting this initiative each year.”
