Cllr Richie Molloy – Notice of Motion at the June Meeting of Tipperary County Council regarding Sergio Ciobanu

Cllr Richie Molloy submitted a Notice of Motion at the June Meeting asking that Tipperary County Council write to athletics Ireland asking that a proper definition be given as to the Criteria used in Selecting Athletes to Represent Ireland in the Olympics as Cllr Molloy went on to say in his Opinion Sergio Ciobanu was treated unfairly as he was given the impression if he was in the first 3 in the recent Berlin Marathon he would be on the Irish Team but as subsequent events proved he has not been selected despite been 2nd in the Berlin Marathon and most countries such as the United Kingdom have defined exactly the Criteria need to represent them and Ireland needs to do the same . Cllr Molloy received the unanimous support of the council to officially write to The athletic Association.
