Tidy Towns Embrace the Race

Speaking after the launch of the Tour de Suir cycling event in the Town Hall in Clonmel, Cllr Andy Moloney welcomed the race finish to Cahir on Saturday 2nd August and encouraged everyone to come out and embrace the race. The Tour de Suir is a 3 day cycling event and day 1 of 116km will arrive in Cahir town via Ardfinnan and come down Castle Street before the finish at Morrisson BMW, one of the sponsors of the event.

The race which costs over ?55,000 to stage will be a welcome boost to the town and will have the added advantage of been covered by Setanta Sports and Cahir must show itself in all its finery.

Moloney said that there will be a morning stage leaving Clonmel on Sunday and a street circuit race of 5 laps in Clonmel on Sunday evening.

From a Tidy Towns point of view he said that his group will have the town looking well on Saturday for the TV crew and encouraged everyone to have their place looking well as their will be aerial shots also.Further details of the race can be got on www.suirvalleycyclingfestival.com
