Cahir 1916/2016 Celebrations

Cahir 1916/2016 celebrations in association with Cahir Tidy Towns, Cahir Historical Society and Cahir Castle.

Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May in Cahir at 14.30 hrs.

There will be a march from the Castle led by Irish UN Veterans Post 24, followed by Mayor of District and fellow councillors, Acting Superintendent, and members of the Irish army based in Kilkenny. The proclamation will be read by members of the UN veterans and tri colour raised by Irish army. The Last post will be be played by member of Cahir Brass Band and following the National Anthem all officials will march back to the Castle.This will be followed by mini lectures on local activity in 1916 by Cahir Social and Historical Society in the main hall of the Castle at approx 15.45. There will also be an exhibition of guns , medals and pictures of local interest. This exhibition has been prepared by the staff of Cahir Castle. We would welcome as many as possible to Cahir on Monday 2nd from 2.30 to 5pm to join in a collective effort to celebrate 100 years since the rising.
