Moloney Questions Sports Capital Grants Allocation

The Sports Capital Grants announced this week seemed to be a little imbalanced according to Cllr Moloney.

Its a case that either nobody applied in the Clonmel Municipal District or the disagreements between government Ministers and local TDs had an affect on local organisations.

Moloney has made these comments after reviewing the details announced where over 1.2million was allocated to Tipperary with over 800k going to the old North Tipp Boundary and 400k going to the South Tipp district.

Out of these funds there was no group in Clonmel or Cahir to benefit from much needed finances. Moloney says that while he does not have the full list of applicants at his disposal but the list does show favoritism to areas of government ministers and deputies.

Maybe local clubs and organisations need to get their house in order for the next round of grants and reverse this situation and prove him wrong. He has welcomed the funding as a county but must explore how many were refused in the Clonmel Municipal District of which Cahir is now part of and maybe Cahir Park will get their wish for an upgrade of their facilities.
