Championship off to a good start

Last Saturday our senior football team were in Tipperary town to play Upperchurch/Drombane in the first round of the senior football championship. in the first half both teams traded five points each and on the 30th minute a goal by Dylan Fitzgerald was the gap at half time, Cahir 1-05 Upperchurch 0-05. The second half was an entertaining affair with both sides pointing some lovely kicks. Points from the likes of Hickey, Lonergan and Casey and a goal by Brian McKenna was enough to hold off last year's intermediate champions, final score Cahir 2-11 Upperchurch/Drombane 0-13, well done to all the players and management. The team and scorers were as follows: Brian Enright, Eoin Donaghy, Oisin Moloney, Brendan Donaghy, Mikey O'Connor, Ger Hally, Brian McKenna (1-0), Liam Casey (0-4), Sean O'Connor, Ian Flannery, Niall McKenna, Conor Casey, Dylan Fitzgerald (1-1), Dean Lonergan (0-4), Benny Hickey (0-2). Minor Football

On Thursday evening last our minor football team played Ballyporeen/Clonmel Óg, Cahir started slow and at one stage had to fight hard to come from six points down to lead by one with just minutes to go, a goal by the combo team was enough to grab victory from Cahir, final score Cahir 0-13 Bally/Óg 2-09, hard luck lads keep up the hard work, upwards and onwards from here on in. The team and scorers were as follows: Patrick O'Donovan, Eoin Rowe, Stephen Grogan, Conor McKenna, Colin McEniry, Ger Quinn, Cavan McKenna, Patrick Meehan (0-2), Dylan Fitzgerald (0-1), Alan O'Connor (0-5), Conor O'Brien (0-2), Tiarnan McLoughlin (0-1), Sean Murphy, Conor Cashman (0-2), Jack Murphy.
