Moloney welcomes Grant for Ice House.

Chairman of Cahir Tidy Towns, Cllr Andy Moloney has welcomed the announcement of a grant for the Group to start works on the Ice House in Cahir. The initiative for the restoration of the Ice House comes from a Suir Local Workshop back in July 2011 held in Cahir Castle. Also at that workshop came the idea for the need for a new Boat Slip in Cahir which will also go ahead this year. The Ice House is located underground at the back of the Memorial Garden and will be an added attraction to the Town in an effort to hold Tourists in the area for longer. This area with the Dovecote, Memorial Garden and Ice House will be a hive of activity. The Ice House will have sensor lighting internally and will be open daily for the public to view. There is a tunnel into the Dome of the Ice House and there will be a permanent gate here to allow for viewing and safety. Cllr Moloney has welcomed the grant with both hands and compliments the people involved to allow the works. He also acknowledges the many people in Cahir and surrounds who are helping to promote the town and feels that we are heading in the right direction with Tourism in South Tipperary.
