Comprehensive win for 21s

After a change of venue our U21s played the newly formed combination team, Knockmealdown Gaels on home turf last Saturday. From the throw in Cahir settled well and after 15 minutes a goal by Brian McKenna settled Cahir and they never looked back. Another 7 points were scored before the break. Our lads played some fine free flowing football with some fine high fielding from the above mentioned McKenna at the break the score was Cahir 1-07 Knockmealdown Gaels 0-02. Again after the break another early goal by Darragh Howard put Cahir on the road to a fine win with some great passing movements, good football and being well organised, the result was never in doubt and Cahir notched up another seven points to add to their second goal. Well done to all the team and mentors final score Cahir 2-14 Knockmealdown Gaels 0-06. The team and scorers were as follows: Rares Stoica, Keelan Looby (0-1), Oisin Moloney, Ryan Murphy, Ryan O'Donnell (0-1), Brendan Donaghy, Mikey O'Connor (0-1), Liam Casey (0-2), Conor Cashman, Brian McKenna (1-1), Niall McKenna (0-1), Aaron Murphy (0-3), Stephen Duggan, Ian Flannery (0-4), Darragh Howard (1-0). Subs Used: Patrick Meehan, Alan O'Connor, Eanna Heffernan, Colin McEniry, Conor McKenna, Conor O'Brien.

U12A football

Our younger members were out also last Saturday at home. They took on Moyle Rovers, for their first game of the year, our young men also had a comprehensive win, well done to all the team and mentors final score Cahir 4-10 Moyle Rovers 0-02.

The whole parish is green and white

The town and parish of Cahir has gone green and white (and no it's not St. Patrick's Day), as you read this there is only days to go before next Sunday, where history will be made when our ladies from the Cahir intermediate Camogie team step on to the turf of Croke Park to play in the club final. We expect a large crowd from Cahir to greet the girls as they run on to the pitch. On behalf of Cahir GAA and the parish we would like to wish each and every single player and mentor the very best of luck from 1-30pm on Sunday the 6th, and let's hope it stays green and white until St Patrick's day and beyond, when we have CLUB champions in our parish BEST OF LUCK LADIES we are all behind you.

Cahir & District Sports Achievement Awards

Nice to see a new committee set up to honour sport achievement by teams and sports people in the Cahir area. Congratulations to the three nominees Ryan O Donnell (rugby), Cahir intermediate camogie team, and to the overall winner for January the Tipperary Ladies Darts team.

Ladies Football

A hat trick of victories for our clubs last weekend, the third coming from our U16 ladies footballers who had a win over Templemore in a very entertaining game last Sunday, well done to all involved and keep up the hard work girls.

Draw the Joker

Jim Treacy won €100. Other winners were John Hickey, Thomas Burke, Sinead Grant and Jim Treacy. The draw was witnessed by Tom from the Hill Inn. The Draw will be held next week in The Abbey Tavern with a Jackpot prize of €7,400.00. All are welcome. We thank Michael Harty and the members of his Comhaltas Group for providing musical entertainment.


Cahir Camogie Club would like to wish their Intermediate Team the best of luck in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club final on Sunday next in Croke Park. Throw in is at 1.30pm when the girls take on Eyrecourt of Galway. Training has gone very well in the run up to the final and thanks to Alan O'Connor for his expert help at training. Best wishes also to our Under 12 team who will take to the field at half time, have a great day girls and enjoy the occasion. The club would like to call on all former players and their families to come and support us on the day. We appreciate, that your contribution in our earlier years has helped us to get to where we are now so we would love you all to share what will hopefully be a fantastic day for Cahir Camogie.
